JV and Varsity Boys vs St. Dominic Savio

The jv and varsity boys traveled to Austin on Tuesday to play St. Dominic Savio. The flu bug was going through the teams and both were playing short-handed for this contest.

The jv boys won a hard fought 51-48 contest. Josh led the way on the offensive end scoring 16 points. Graham chipped in 8. Joel knocked down 6, while Elias and Sammy M each scored 5.

The varsity boys also defeated Savio by three points, 52-49. Ezra came up big on the defensive end taking 4 charges. Toby scored 18 points to lead the way for the Panthers. David scored 13 while Ezra also finished with double digits with 10 points. The Panthers were up 10 in the early 3rd quarter when David went down with an ankle injury. Thanks to the great work by the Savio trainer he was able to return midway through the 4th quarter. During David’s absence, Savio was able to make a run and get back in the game. With the scored tied late the Panthers ran the clock down to take the last shot and either win it or go to overtime. Lincoln hit Toby off the drive and Toby knocked down a clutch 3-pointer with less than 10 seconds left in the game to seal the victory for the Panthers.

The varsity boys travel back to Austin on Friday to take on Summit Christian. The jv boys will return to action next Tuesday in San Antonio and face Cornerstone Christian along with the varsity boys.
